Le PEPR « Grands Fonds Marins : savoirs, usages, communs » (PEPR GFM) vise à produire des connaissances sur les grands fonds marins, définis ici de façon large comme allant du plancher océanique et de son sous-sol jusqu’à la colonne d’eau en dessous de 200 m sous le niveau de la mer, considérés ici comme lieux d’échanges d’énergie, de matière, habitats pour les organismes marins, et milieux liés aux activités et imaginaires humains.
